Weng leads Norwegian skiathlon sweep to maintain Ski Tour Canada lead

Heidi Weng led a Norwegian podium sweep of
the women's World Cup cross-country skiathlon at the Ski Tour Canada
Wednesday to protect her advantage in the standings.
Weng triumphed in the sixth-stage 15-kilometre event in Canmore, with
portions in classic and freestyle, in 39 minutes 41 seconds, edging
out Therese Johaug by 0.8 seconds. Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen
completed the podium a further nine seconds adrift.
World Cup standings leader Johaug had won the previous two skiathlons
this season and narrowly missing out on a third victory allowed Weng
to maintain her Tour lead of around four seconds.
The men have a 30km skiathlon later Wednesday with Russia's Sergey
Ustiugov leading from Norway's multiple world champion Petter
Northug.
The Ski Tour Canada has a rest day Thursday before continuing with
women's and men's individual races for the seventh stage on Friday.
